FAQs

Everything you need to know about our products, sourcing, and orders.

Extra virgin olive oil is valued for its flavour, freshness, antioxidants and naturally occurring compounds such as polyphenols. It is a central part of the Mediterranean table and, when carefully produced, carries both nutritional value and the character of the place it comes from.

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest grade of olive oil. It is made only by mechanical extraction, without refining, and must meet strict quality standards. It should have no sensory defects, show some fruitiness, and have an acidity level below 0.8%.

Acidity in olive oil refers to the level of free fatty acids. It is an indicator of the condition of the olives and how carefully they were handled before extraction. Lower acidity is generally associated with healthier fruit, faster processing, and better overall quality.

It does not refer to the taste being acidic.

If your extra virgin olive oil looks cloudy, there is nothing wrong with it. Olive oil is a natural product, and in cooler temperatures it can become cloudy or begin to thicken. This is normal and does not mean the oil is damaged.

Once it returns to a milder room temperature, it should become clearer again.

Cold extracted olive oil is made without excessive heat, typically below 25°C, in order to help preserve aroma, freshness, and naturally occurring compounds such as polyphenols.

At Siga Siga, our olives are milled very close to the groves and processed soon after harvest to protect quality and freshness.

Store olive oil in a cool, dry place away from direct light and heat. Keep the bottle or tin well closed after use. Good storage helps protect flavour and freshness for longer.

Please follow the production date and best-before date shown on the bottle or tin.

When stored properly, olive oil can keep well for a long time, including in larger tins. Still, we always recommend enjoying it as fresh as possible, especially as each harvest brings a new batch.

Please, do. We are happy when our bottles are reused thoughtfully. See the instructions on the olive oil page on how to clean them properly.

Sometimes, yes. Tin packaging is practical for olive oil but can be more prone to small dents during transport. Temperature and pressure changes in transit can also affect the shape of the tin.

Small dents do not affect the quality of the oil inside.

We carefully check that tins leave us in good condition and are properly packed. Because minor denting does not affect the quality of the olive oil, we do not accept returns for cosmetic dents alone.

If a tin arrives severely damaged or leaking, please contact us and include photos so we can review it properly.

At the moment, the 500ml bottle is available for delivery within the Netherlands only.

Orders are shipped from the Netherlands, and under normal conditions delivery usually takes 1–2 working days.

Yes. Our 5L and 17L tins are intended for larger-volume use.
Within Greece, delivery can be arranged more flexibly depending on the quantity and destination. Across the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, these larger formats are currently best suited to restaurants, cafés, hospitality, and other professional kitchens, where transport can be organised more efficiently.

If you are interested, please get in touch with a few details and we can discuss what is possible.

For private customers, the order confirmation serves as proof of purchase. If you need an invoice, please contact us at [email protected]

Some of our pieces are offered by enquiry rather than direct checkout because they are one of a kind, seasonal, small-batch, or made in limited quantities.

If you see an enquiry button, the best next step is simply to contact us. We can then confirm availability, share more details, and guide you personally.

At the moment, our plant-dyed pieces, wool, and candles are not set up as standard shipped products.

These are better discovered in person through future markets, selected places, and other physical points where Siga Siga will appear. That said, if you are interested in something specific, you are always welcome to contact us and we can let you know what may be possible.

Over time, we hope to share our plant-dyed pieces, wool, candles, and other small-batch work through markets, selected places, and collaborations in the Netherlands, as well as more flexibly from our base in Greece.

The best place to follow these updates will be our Find Us page, or you can contact us directly if you are looking for something specific.

The lookbook is there to give a sense of the colours, materials, and possibilities, rather than to promise exact repetition.

Sometimes, yes. We take on a small number of requests depending on the season, available materials, and current workload.

If you have something specific in mind, you are welcome to get in touch and we can let you know what may be possible.

Not exactly as a plant-dyed colour is a living colour. Unlike synthetic dyes, natural dyes do not rely on harsh chemical processing or create the same toxic waste. Their colours may soften or shift gently over time. To us, that is part of its beauty and part of what makes each piece feel connected to nature.

Wash cool or cold with a pH-neutral detergent, avoid bleach or harsh stain removers, and dry away from direct sunlight. When not in use, store the piece out of strong sun.

Currently our wool is usually handled by enquiry according to current availability.

We work with a regenerative, low-intervention approach that aims to care for the soil, support biodiversity, and respect the natural rhythm of the land.

For us, this means paying attention over time. We observe, learn, and make decisions that support long-term health rather than short-term output. It is an ongoing practice, and one we care deeply about.

If this way of working speaks to you, we’d be glad to stay connected, whether through our products, our updates, or future gatherings in person.
